Welcome to Army Medical College
AM College was established at Rawalpindi in 1977 as a residential institution. The College was initially affiliated with Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad for the award of MBBS degree. It became a constituent college of NUST in 1998 and later in 2016 it became a constituent college of National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS). The first batch of MBBS course comprising 100 students graduated in 1981 and the college was recognized by GMC-UK. Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) course was started during the same year. The college has unique distinction of imparting postgraduate training (MPhil/PhD and FCPS) in basic medical sciences since 2001.
The College is located in the cantonment city of Rawalpindi. The twin cities of Rawalpindi-Islamabad are served by an international airport and linked with the rest of the country by rail, road and air. The city enjoys all five climates; summer, winter, autumn, spring and monsoon. Summer resorts like Murree and Abbottabad are not far away from this city. Archaeological sites of Gandhara and Taxila are located around 40-50 kilometers away from the city. Our mission is to train undergraduate medical and dental students who are erudite, altruistic and lifelong learners, providing ethical, professional and evidence-based healthcare to the Armed Forces of Pakistan and community at large. The college fascinates the best talent not only from Pakistan but all over the world. Students are trained in a value-laden disciplined environment with special emphasis on character building.
The three fundamental pillars of medical and dental training are knowledge, skills and attitude. We at Army Medical College pay special focus upon developing all the three aspects in our students in accordance with international best practices. Army Medical College has a highly skillful faculty consisting of eminent scholars, distinguished professors and specialists who are committed to the highest standards of teaching, training, research and service delivery. The students are encouraged to imbibe critical thinking, analytical reasoning and pragmatic decision-making. In addition to the undergraduate programs of MBBS and BDS, the college also offers postgraduate programs of MPhil, PhD and FCPS in various disciplines under the auspices of National University of Medical Sciences.
Army Medical College has a beautiful campus and state of the art clinical training institutes and hospitals located in near vicinity. The college has spacious lecture halls and seminar rooms with advanced teaching and training aids and well-equipped labs. There are six hostels for male students and two for female students with excellent living, dining and recreational facilities. Each student is provided uninterrupted internet in hostel free of cost. Considering the importance of physical fitness, facilities required for various games, state of the art gym and a jogging track are also available in hostel area.
The college has a well-stocked library and innovative learning resource center with high speed internet including digital library from Higher Education Commission. We use a comprehensive Campus Management System which is a database of students, faculty and all the academic activities. Army Medical College has pioneered in using multimedia MCQs through computer-based testing system with deep impact on student’s learning. With dedication and perseverance of its faculty and students, Army Medical College is committed to scale new standards of medical education.
